"In search of the Loch Ness Monster... or was it the Lough Neagh Monster or perhaps the Windermere Sprite?
Well, I do swim a lot these days so eye-catching swimming caps are bound to attract my attention! Nothing quite like a swimmer surfacing unexpectedly in front of you in the middle of a lake or in the sea to make you jump.

Lester Seal pops up to say hello
We swim in the Irish Sea on a daily basis ( sea conditions permitting) and are privileged to share it with the local wildlife. The seals pop up beside us as we swim as if to say “What’s going on and what are you doing?” So far, they’ve kept their distance and they follow at a safe distance.
Lester here was captured eating a fish and basking in the sun shine.

'I was just sitting there minding my own business when you pesky humans had to paddle by"
Seal resting on the rocks. We all know that feeling when you just want a little bit of peace and quiet then someone comes along just as you’re getting comfortable!
I saw this seal photo as posted by one of my kayaking buddies (I don’t kayak just swim!) and made me smile. You can imagine what the seal is thinking…What? No fish? Then clear off and leave me alone!

Chinese bowl with digital colouring
I took part in a year long project celebrating our ethnic communities in Northern Ireland and interpreting the Sir Newell Jordan Collection recently bequeathed to North Down Museum. We had the opportunity to hold artefacts belonging to the Collection, photograph them using photogrammetry, create 3D prints of objects, use new design programs, create tote bags using heat transfer processes, laser cut wood, paint, draw, print and generally explore “forbidden” objects. So enlightening and fun too!

Andy's clothes loved to play hide and seek...
On those dark winter mornings when we swim in the darkness before dawn, your clothes have a nasty habit of disappearing when you are freezing cold, your hands are on a go-slow and desperately trying to find them within 10 minutes of exiting the Irish Sea! When searching for dark coloured clothing by the feeble light of a head torch, you quickly learn who your friends are.
